Government in Action Youth Tour canceled; BTU Youth Leadership Scholarship now open

For many years, Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) has sponsored three local high school students to go on the trip of a lifetime, the Government-in-Action Youth Tour. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, trip administrators, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC), have determined it necessary to cancel the 2021 Youth Tour set to take place in June.
BTU sought to find another way to encourage young leaders in our community. In lieu of sending students on the trip this year, BTU will be awarding three local high school seniors each a $1,000 scholarship payable to the higher education institution – university, college, or technical school – the student will be attending in the fall.
To qualify students must:
  1. Live in or attend a school in the BTU service territory.
  2. Be a graduating high school senior for spring semester 2021
  3. Apply online at btutilities.com/youthtour/
Applications are due by May 21, 2021. For questions, please email mbrown@btutilities.com or call 979-821-5859.
