BTU Earns National Recognition for Updated Website
BRYAN, TEXAS – Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) earned recognition from the prestigious Excellence in Public Power Communications Awards from the American Public Power Association (APPA). BTU’s website update, which occurred in late 2024, won the Award of Excellence in Web & Social Media for like-sized utilities.
The awards were presented the first week in November at APPA’s Customer Connections Conference in Salt Lake City, UT, and were given to those that showed ingenuity and creativity in telling their stories through outstanding copy, design, data presentation, graphics, engagement, video editing, and web layout and interactivity.
“As a publicly-owned utility, we know we have a responsibility to provide clear, timely, and quality communication to our community,” said Gary Miller, BTU General Manager. “Our updated website provides us with the capability to meet those goals, and we are thankful the APPA recognized our efforts to those ends.”
“The website update project represented months of dedicated work across a multitude of departments, all with the goal of better serving our customers,” said Meagan Brown, BTU Division Manager of Customer Solutions. “We are thrilled to know the positive feedback we have received from our community is also echoed by a national organization like the APPA.”
The process of updating BTU’s website began in early 2024 and was finalized in October 2024. The site was created through a unique partnership between Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, Inc. and BTU. While Touchstone primarily serves electric cooperatives, BTU was the first, and remains the only, municipal utility site created by the company.
The BTU website receives high marks in monthly analytics reports, and has maintained a perfect ADA Accessibility Score since launch.
