In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Government-in-Action Youth Tour has been cancelled. BTU wanted to find another way to encourage young leaders in our community.
In lieu of the leadership tour, BTU will be awarding three local high school seniors each a $1,000 scholarship.
Students must live in or attend a school in the BTU service territory. The scholarship will be payable directly to the higher education institution (technical school, college, university) that the student will be attending.
Eligible students must be a graduating high school senior for spring semester 2021. Application deadline is May 21, 2021.
Each year, BTU proudly sends some of the area’s best students to Washington D.C., to represent our community. The participants are selected each year based on the results of an essay contest. Unfortunately, Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC), has canceled the 2021 Youth Tour for Texas students. While this is an unfortunate development, we hope to resume sending our local students to Washington D.C. in the summer of 2022.
