Each year, BTU proudly sends some of the area’s best students to Washington D.C., to represent our community. The participants are selected each year based on the results of an essay contest.
The candidate search begins in November of each year and by March the winners are announced. In June, the winners begin their one week journey and fellowship in our nation’s capital. The 2024 trip is scheduled for June 16-24. Application deadline is Feb. 1.
The action-packed week takes the students to such sites as the Smithsonian Museums, Washington and Lincoln Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, the Supreme Court, and many others. While in Washington D.C., the students will also get to speak to their congressman.
(Winning students will need a government issued ID — passport, driver’s license, or state ID — for flight purposes.) Eligible applicants must:
Be a sophomore, junior, or senior in high school;
Live in BTU-served territory, or go to a school served by BTU;
Submit an application and complete the essay online*
*Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applications for the Youth Tour are currently closed.
