As a municipally owned utility, BTU is committed to the community we serve. One of our goals is to improve the quality of life within our community. To meet this goal, BTU created the PowerShare Customer Donation Program empowering customers to join together to assist their neighbors in need throughout the community. With more than 65,000 customers possibly putting their nickels and dimes together, the PowerShare Program has the potential to make a significant impact in our community.
Donors have the choice of rounding up their bill to the next highest dollar or donating a fixed amount each month. For example, if your bill is $100.25 and you select the round up option, it will round to $101, and the $0.75 will be donated. If your bill is $100.25 and you elect to donate a fixed $5 per month, the total will be $105.25, with $5 donated. The program is flexible in that you may also give a one-time gift.
Donations are distributed to Catholic Charities of Central Texas to determine the eligibility of recipients and disburse funds. Participation is strictly voluntary and you can request to be removed from the program at any time.
