Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) has contracted with Smith Mountain Investments to perform steel reinforcement of specified electric distribution poles, as identified from the previous pole inspection project.
This pole restoration program is designed to refurbish poles weakened by decay or other damage so they exceed National Electrical Safety Code strength requirements. This work is performed at a fraction of the cost of a pole replacement. BTU has been conducting pole inspections to identify those that may need preventative maintenance or replacement as part of BTU’s overall preventative maintenance program.
This project will begin on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, and will be completed by Friday, August 25, 2017. Area residents may notice Smith Mountain trucks and personnel in the area throughout the project period.
