BTU begins final phase of LED street light project

Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) will begin the final phase of a territory-wide LED street light conversion this week.

BTU has contracted with Standard Utility to complete this project. More than 4,300 lights have been converted since the first phase began in June 2019. The final phase will result in an additional 2,000 lamps being converted to LED throughout residential areas in north and east Bryan, as well as in BTU’s College Station territory.

The project is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 31, 2019, and will result in brighter, more energy-efficient lighting for the communities served by BTU. The new lights are approximately 50-70% more efficient, require less maintenance, and produce a more natural white light than those previously in place.
