BTU to Begin South College Avenue Utility Undergrounding

The week of March 20, 2017, Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) is set to begin the relocation of overhead electric distribution facilities underground along South College Avenue from Villa Maria Drive to the Bryan city limit line near Inlow Boulevard.

BTU personnel and the contractor, MP Technologies, LLC, are expected to complete this $8 million capital project by September 2017 in several phases. The first phase will consist of trenching and boring for the installation of new conduit as well as the placement of equipment pads. The next phase of the project will include the installation of new underground electric utilities. The final phase will involve the removal of BTU’s existing overhead lines and poles.

Access to some areas within the construction zone may be limited. Alternating lane closures are anticipated to safely accommodate both personnel and equipment. Property owners adjacent to the project have been notified of the potential impact to their service and property.

For more information about this project, please contact the BTU Public Information Officer at 979-821-5700.
