BTU to sponsor students on trip to Washington, D.C.

High school students can win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. through Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU). The Government-in-Action Youth Tour is a youth leadership program sponsored by BTU and organized by Texas Electric Cooperatives. For more than 55 years, electric utilities across the country have been sending young adults to the nation’s capital for an action-packed tour. Highlights of the trip include meeting congressional leaders, visiting national monuments and historic sites, touring Smithsonian Institution museums, cruising the Potomac River on a boat, seeing a show at the Kennedy Center, and rallying with more than 1,900 fellow students for a day of inspirational leadership speakers. The 2022 trip is scheduled for June 12-21.

To win this “trip of a lifetime,” eligible entrants must:

  • Be a high school sophomore, junior or senior.
  • Be a dependent of a BTU customer with permanent resident status in the service area, or attend a school served by BTU.

To apply, submit an online application and essay to be judged independently through BTU. This year’s contest topic is an essay discussing challenges facing the electric industry today and possible solutions. Applications are due Feb. 1, 2022 at btutilites.com/youthtour/. For more information about Youth Tour, contact Meagan Brown at 979-821-5859 or mbrown@btutilities.com.

Apply now! If you win, you will have a flight to catch.
